Layered Options

The Thursday call spread, the GTC target, the record

20 questions about Layered Options

What is Layered Options? What kind of trades are they? One trade every Thursday at about 3 PM Eastern: a call debit spread (a call vertical) on the strongest of SPY, QQQ, IWM and DIA, about 36 days out, with a Good Till Canceled target that closes it for you. You buy options; you never sell one naked. Read the full answer Where do I find Layered Options and the trades in my members area?Open Layered Options Alerts (or Layered Options Strategy) in the menu on the left. The page has this week's trade, your open layers, every trade since January 2025 and how each ended, and the join buttons for the Telegram and Discord room. Read the full answer When does the Layered Options trade come out?Every Thursday at about 3 PM Eastern. It is priced from the live market then, and posted to the Layered Options room on Telegram and Discord and to your members-area page. Read the full answer How do I place the Layered Options trade at my broker?Enter the two legs as one ticket, a call vertical: buy to open the lower call, sell to open the higher one, same expiry. Pay a debit of around the posted price with a limit order. Once filled, set a GTC limit to close at the posted credit. Read the full answer What is the GTC target, and what happens if it never fills? The target is the debit × 1.25, set as a Good Till Canceled limit credit: it closes the trade for you when the spread is worth that. If it never fills, the spread is worth the ETF's close at expiry less the bought strike, from nothing up to its 1-dollar width. Read the full answer How much money does a Layered Options trade take? How do I aim for more? One contract risks the debit × 100: a debit around 0.60 risks about 60 dollars. The post lists the risk per contract, the most it can make and what the target makes. More contracts scale all three; size is your choice. Read the full answer Where do I see Layered Options' past results and average win?On your Layered Options page: the win rate in a ring, the average winner, the days to target, the profit factor, the current streak, one contract of every trade added up over time, and every trade since January 2025 with how it ended. Read the full answer I did not get the Thursday trade. Where is it posted? In the Layered Options room (Telegram and Discord) and on your members-area page, every Thursday at about 3 PM ET. Join the room from your Layered Options page: your invite is made there, for you. Read the full answer Does Layered Options ever trade put spreads in a falling market? No. Every trade is a call debit spread on the strongest of the four ETFs, the rule the team has followed since January 2025. In a falling market it is still the strongest of SPY, QQQ, IWM and DIA that week. Read the full answer Can I use Layered Options on other stocks or indexes? The trades are only on SPY, QQQ, IWM and DIA: liquid ETFs with 1-dollar strikes and a busy options market. The strategy course teaches the method, and its Alpha Index Finder tool on TradingView helps pick the strongest index. Read the full answer Which broker can I use for Layered Options? Will my account allow it?Any broker that lets you trade call vertical (debit) spreads. Many brokers need an options approval level that includes spreads: check yours. Read the full answer What is the difference between Layered Options Alerts and Layered Options Strategy? Both open the trades: the room on Telegram and Discord and your members-area page with every trade. The Strategy is the course that teaches the method; the Alerts is the weekly trade delivered to you. Read the full answer What are "open layers" on my Layered Options page? The trades still open: each Thursday's spread that has not reached its GTC target or expired. Each shows how far it has come from what was paid toward its target. Read the full answer The room said my spread hit its GTC target, but my order did not fill. Why?The update means our prices showed the spread at or above the target. Your own fill depends on your broker and whether your GTC was working at that price. Check the order is still open, GTC, at the posted credit. Read the full answer The debit is different from the posted one. Should I still take it?The post says "around" because prices move. A limit near the posted debit keeps the trade as planned; paying much more makes the target (debit × 1.25) harder to reach and raises the risk. Your call. Read the full answer What does "one contract of every trade, added up" mean on the page?It is a running total in dollars, as if you had taken one contract of every Layered Options trade since January 2025 at the posted debit, closed at the target or at its value at expiry. Read the full answer Can I close a Layered Options spread early?Yes: it is your position. Closing early takes whatever the spread is worth then, profit or loss. The record follows the plan: the GTC target, or expiry. Read the full answer Is the Layered Options trade sent by email? The trade goes to the Layered Options room on Telegram and Discord and to your members-area page. Watch those each Thursday at about 3 PM ET; the page always has this week's trade. Read the full answer Why is the Layered Options expiry about 36 days out?The rule is the first Friday at least 30 days out, which from a Thursday is 36 days. It gives the spread time to reach its target. A Friday market holiday moves it to the Thursday before. Read the full answer
