What do "vs open interest", "new strikes", "strikes hit" and "sweep-confirmed" mean?
Quick answerVs open interest compares the session's volume with the contracts that existed before it: 3× or more is unusual. New strikes means none existed before. Strikes hit is how many strikes took the money. Sweep-confirmed means a buyer took every contract across exchanges at once.
The details
- Vs open interest: the session's volume on the card's contracts divided by the open interest before the session. 1.0× is as many as already existed; 25× is twenty-five times as many: new positions. 3×+ is marked amber.
- New strikes (amber): there was no open interest at all before; every contract traded was new.
- Strikes hit: how many strikes (same expiry, same side) took the money. One bet split into a safer strike near the price and a bolder one further out is scored as one card.
- Sweep-confirmed: the exchanges stamp an Intermarket Sweep when a buyer takes every available contract across exchanges at once, two or more within half a second. You only sweep when you want in now.
On Active Scanner and Terminal, the Screener sorts the raw flow by Vol/OI (the Screener). The next morning's open interest shows whether the positions were kept (Order Flow).
