Why does one ticker show a call card and a put card?

Options ReconLast updated October 27, 2026
Quick answerEach ticker and expiry is judged on its own. The money on one expiry can lean to calls while another expiry leans to puts, so the same ticker can show both, each with its own expiry.
The details
  • A card needs one side to hold at least 2× more big-order money than the other on that ticker and that expiry.
  • So a stock can have big call buying on next month's expiry and big put buying on a later one: two cards.
  • Look at the expiry and the days left on each: they tell you which bet is which.

Balanced money on the same expiry (calls and puts about even) is usually hedging, and makes no card at all.
