What are the 1-2-3 exits?
Quick answerThe stop 10% under the entry, the target 5% over it, and out at the close on day 30 if neither is reached. The first one reached ends the trade.
The details
The three exits
- Target: 5% over the entry. A gap over it fills at the open.
- Stop: 10% under the entry, hit on a wick (during the day, not only on the close). A gap under it fills at the open.
- Time exit: neither reached by the close on day 30, the 30th daily candle after the entry: out at that close.
Set the stop and the target as orders when you get in. The alert gives both prices and the date of day 30.
Why a wider stop than target?
We tested more, and this is better. Until Oct 22 the calls used the low of the three candles as the stop and twice that risk as the target, out after 20 candles, and a little under half won. With the wider stop and the nearer target, many more calls reach the target, at about the same edge a trade. The record on your page is replayed on these exits (the record).
The option
The options trade follows the stock's +5% and day 30, with no stop of its own (the options trade).
