What is a Chef's pick?
Quick answerOn a day when no ticket passes the usual rules, a Chef's pick is the one best spread you can still fill near its price: a ticker near its 20-day high, or a fair fill up to 48¢ per 1 dollar. It is labelled Chef's pick and kept apart from the record.
The details
- When: only when the normal 3:00 PM cook serves nothing.
- What widens, in order: first a ticker within 1% of its 20-day high and above its 20-day average (instead of a fresh high); then a fair fill up to 48¢ per 1 dollar (instead of 43¢).
- What never widens: both legs' bid/ask gaps stay at 25% of their price or less, and the mid still costs 43¢ or less per 1 dollar, so the fill is real.
- One a day at most, the closest to the money, then the cheapest. The ticket, the card and the post say "Chef's pick" and why it is outside the usual rule.
- Its own record: Chef's picks are scored the same way but kept apart, so the record stays the strict rule.
