Which broker should I use?

Homemade OptionsLast updated November 2, 2026
Quick answerAny broker that allows call debit spreads (vertical spreads) works. We use and recommend Robinhood: call debit spreads in a few taps, on your phone.
The details
  • What you need: options trading switched on, with permission for spreads. Many brokers ask you to apply for that level once (on Robinhood it is options level 3).
  • What we use: Robinhood. Open a Robinhood account. Full disclosure: that's Ben's referral link, and Robinhood may give him a referral bonus; it costs you nothing.
  • Already have a broker? Keep it, as long as it allows call debit spreads.
  • The order: a call debit spread (vertical), one order with a limit.
  • No broker connection yet: you read the ticket on your dashboard and place it at your broker yourself.

How to place today's ticket on Robinhood: the video on Videos & guides, under Recommended broker. New to placing a spread? The Quick-Start Guide walks through the order, chapter 7.
