What do Volume candles show? A green candle has a red outline
Quick answerVolume candles make each candle as wide as its volume against the last 20: wide is busy, thin is quiet, and one with twice the usual volume or more glows. They do not show buying or selling. A candle's colour or outline comes from the chart or from a system painting it.

Turn them on under Indicators → Volume candles.
- Width: each candle is as wide as its volume compared with its last 20 candles.
- Glow: a candle with twice its usual volume or more glows.
- Colour: unchanged. Green closed up, red closed down. Volume candles do not split the volume into buying and selling.
A red outline or a different colour on a candle comes from something else on the chart: Impulse bars (green buyers, red sellers, blue neutral) or one of our systems painting its candles. Switch them off one at a time to see which.
