Why do some stocks show no Live Pulse?
Quick answerLive Pulse reads the stock's last minutes of trading, so it shows from 9:35 AM to 4:05 PM Eastern, once those minutes are in. Outside those hours, or before a stock has traded enough today, its Pulse is blank. It is the same number in the watchlist and on the Live Pulse card.
The details
Live Pulse measures how hard a stock is moving right now against its usual pace at that time of day (how to read it). It needs that stock's last minutes of trading, so:
- Before 9:35 AM and after 4:05 PM Eastern it is blank.
- A stock that has barely traded yet today stays blank until its minutes come in.
- The bottom row is always the whole market (SPY), so you see SPY even when the stock on your chart has none yet.
The watchlist's Pulse column updates a little slower than the card on the chart. Both read the same number.
