What is a "stock in play", and why was a breakout not called?
Quick answerA stock whose first 15 minutes traded at least 1.5× their usual volume over the last 14 sessions. A breakout on an ordinary open is drawn on the chart but not called: that filter is most of the edge.
The details
- In play: opening volume at 1.5× or more of its usual.
- Not in play: the Snap zone is drawn, but no call.
- Wrong side: a break against the opening candle is never the trade.
- After 12:00: no new entries.
Published opening-range studies found the same: the in-play filter matters most (how it works).
