When do I get out of a Slingshot trade? Why is the stop so wide?
Quick answerAt the target or the stop, whichever price touches first, even mid-candle. Set both as orders when you get in. The stop is wider than the target by design: that is the script's plan, and why it reaches its target so often.
The details
- Target: +3% from the entry for most stocks.
- Stop: −10% for most.
- How: a sell limit at the target and a stop order at the stop, placed when you get in.
A small target and a wide stop mean many small wins and the odd bigger loss. The Live tab shows wins against losses and the average trade side by side, so the percentage is never read alone (the record).
