The stock was stopped out. What about my option?
Quick answerThe option has no stop. It keeps its own exits: sell it when the stock reaches 5% over the original entry, or at the close on day 30, whichever comes first.
The details
When the stock trade ends, its alert says what to do with the option:
- The stock hit its +5% target: sell the option now.
- Day 30: sell the option at the close.
- The stock was stopped: the option has no stop and keeps running on its own exits. The stock can still come back up to 5% over the original entry before day 30; if it does, sell then, and an alert posts when the option's trade ends.
On your page the call keeps its card while its option is running, with "the option has no stop and keeps its own exits" under it.
Holding the option after the stock is stopped is how the options trade was built. If you would rather not, that is your call: the stock trade is the record we publish.
